What is a Latin Jazz Dance?
Latin Jazz dance is known as one of the aesthetic forms that synthesizes much with the Latin American culture. With the immigration of the Latin America people, especially the Cubans, mainly to New York, begin a fusion of music and dance between the famous American Jazz and the originals Afro-Cuban rhythms.
Latin Jazz combines movements and rhythms of merengue, salsa, mambo, lambada, cha cha cha or samba with the Jazz Dance Technique.
Latin Jazz Music is a genre of jazz with Latin American rhythms. Although musicians continually expand its parameters, the term Latin jazz is generally understood to have a more specific meaning than simply “jazz from Latin America“.
Some Latin jazz typically employs rhythms that either have a direct analog in Africa, or exhibit an African influence. The two main categories of Latin jazz are:
Latin Jazz Beginners / Fitness Latin Jazz
Latin Jazz Intermediate / Advantage
I divide my Latin Jazz class into four very well defined blocks.
In the first block we will work body stretching coordinated with muscle power exercises and dance technique.
In the second block we will work with the corporeal isolations associated with the Latin competition technique and Afro-Cuban dance.
In the third block we will work on different diagonals with combos associated with jazz technique fused with Latin movements.
In the last block we will end the class with a choreography trying to put into practice everything we have learned.
